Woody Wednesday: Wood's Prank EC Panel

Since this week's Woody Wednesday coincides with April Fool's Day, I thought it only fitting that I share a prank that Wally Wood played on his EC Comics bosses Al Feldstein and Bill Gaines in the 1950s. When he turned in the artwork for the story "The Children," to run in Weird Science-Fantasy #23, he shocked his bosses by turning in a page where he had drawn the heroine completely nude for no apparent reason in one panel:

But it was just a gag panel that he had pasted over the actual panel he'd drawn for the story; underneath was the original, publishable version of the scene. For comparison, here's how it appeared in the printed comic:

I don't know whether or not he did it in April, but Wood's prank is certainly in the April Fool's spirit!
