Squa Tront #9: Remembering Al Feldstein's Birthday

Today would be the 94th birthday of legendary EC Comics artist and longtime Mad Magazine editor Al Feldstein (born Oct. 24, 1925). Reposting from the old Tumblr site: From the EC fanzine Squa Tront #9, they published a number of rough gag "fake covers" that Feldstein drew for an EC office party back in the '50s. These cartoon covers aren't nearly as polished as Feldstein's usual style, but this "Sadistic Comics" cover is the only example I've ever seen of Feldstein drawing nudity...

Squa Tront #9: Remembering Johnny Craig's Birthday

Today would be the 93rd birthday of famed EC Comics artist Johnny Craig (born April 25, 1926). Reposting from the old Tumblr site, a couple of images from the EC fanzine Squa Tront #9. First, a self-portrait of Craig making good use of the camera that publisher Bill Gaines gave him as a Christmas gift (part of a collection of drawings that the EC artists did to thank Gaines for his gifts that year)...

Also from that same issue, a panel by Craig used to illustrate an unpublished EC script by writer Carl Wessler...getting a bit more risque than he would have if the story had actually seen print in the 1950s!
